Metal coating is a very common means of protection, because metal materials will undergo many transfers from production to processing. In order to avoid pollution and scratches on the metal surface caused by transportation and multi-stage processing and affect the finish, metal material manufacturers will cover the metal surface. The common applications of film coated metal in our life mainly include doors and windows, kitchenware, sunshade and so on.

Metal coating does not use adhesive, so it does not contain formaldehyde, which is more environmentally friendly and healthier. It is more and more widely used in the fields related to home building materials. Under this background, the processing of coated metal has also received increasing attention.

Laser cutting

Fiber Laser cutting equipment is not only a sharp tool for coated metal processing, but also the mainstream solution for coated metal processing. Some students who have a little knowledge of laser processing may feel puzzled that the optical fiber laser band can only be absorbed by metal. Why can the processing be completed with film?

Laser cutting metal with film is not difficult. At present, the intelligent control system has its own film cutting parameters. Before the start of metal processing, first burn the film according to the path with low power, and then complete the metal processing normally. In this way, the integrity of the coating can be guaranteed, and the quality of the finished metal products after cutting and processing will not be affected.

If it is a low thickness sheet material, such as stainless steel, this step can be omitted. After the parameters are set by the control system, the laser equipment will cut directly with film, which is no different from the ordinary processing process.

Of course, according to the normal idea, we should cut the side without coating. In fact, if the coating side is facing down, the slag generated during laser cutting on the back will contact the protective film first and then be discharged. In this way, many residues will adhere to the protective film around the cutting seam, damage the material surface and produce irregular burning edges of the protective film.

The automatic operation of laser processing with film metal is completed with the help of motion control system. Although the processing path is taken one more time, it is not time-consuming and laborious for laser processing equipment. The overall completion is fast and good, there will be no unnecessary processes and save manpower.
